Living the Life I Imagined

Hi everyone! I don't have a whole lot to say in this entry...but I will be taking a little bit of a hiatus due to SPRING BREAK! I can't believe it is finally here! For the entire semester, we have all been saying, "Once Spring Break hits, things are really going to go by quickly." I can already tell that this statement will be extremely true. But, before all of that, here are a few high points in my week:
-So. Much. Gelato. Claire and I seriously found the best gelato place and we cannot help ourselves. We just keep going back! They change their flavors often, so we can keep mixing it up. Today I had Berry and Chocolate...so delicious. To be fair, we've only gone twice this week...too few times if you ask me!

-Claire, Elissa, and I have to complete a project for our art history class. We decided to do our project on the San Juan de Dios (Saint John of God) church here in Granada. We've learned about it in art history but never actually seen it. We decided to go at 8 AM on Monday morning (why we decided this I will never fully understand). We walked to the church....and found that there was a mass going on. We couldn't decide how to proceed, but we eventually ended up going inside and sitting in the back. First off, the church is absolutely beautiful. Everything is gold and extravagant, and it made me feel so small to be sitting in one of the pews. We needed to take pictures, so we waited until mass was over. As soon as it finished, we started being tourists--walking around and snapping photos of all the art work. It was so cool to be a tourist in our own city for a little bit! We had a lot of time to kill before class, so we stopped in at Dunkin Coffee (aka Dunkin Donuts) for some breakfast!

- Alejandra's birthday is today! Since she is in Greece for Spring Break, we had a little celebration yesterday. Nati made her a cake and brought it during lunch. It even had candles on it that said '21'! It was such a sweet gesture...and since I'm the last one in the apartment leaving for Spring Break, I get to eat more of the cake :)

So, like I said, a pretty quiet week around here! I had a record amount of delicious tapas this week. Now I have focused my attention on packing for my trip! I leave tomorrow morning bright and early--my bus to the airport leaves at 8AM! Granada doesn't have a huge airport, so most of us end up flying out of Malaga, which is about 2 hours away. Our flight to Dublin leaves around 12:30 and should last about 3 hours. We will stay in Dublin through Tuesday, when we have a VERY early morning flight to Edinburgh, Scotland. We spend 2 days in Edinburgh and return to Granada very late Thursday evening. Next weekend should be really exciting in Granada, because they go all out for Holy Week! Good Friday and Easter are supposed to be quite the sight to see. I'm excited to have a week off of school and SO EXCITED to be going to Ireland and Scotland! It almost doesn't even seem real. I'll take lots of pictures and be sure to write all about it when I return.

Special shout-out(s) this week to my cousins Philip and Dillon...I messed up and forgot to post about Philip's big 13th birthday...welcome to the teenage years! And Dillon turns 10 this Saturday...welcome to double digits!! Can't believe how big you guys are getting!

I've added some pictures of my week below. Enjoy! Have a great week everybody!

  1. Hope you have a wonderful, exciting Spring Break, Shannon! BTW, Philip told me to tell you that he actually turned 14....I know, it's impossible to keep up with everything! He says hello and so does your buddy, Dixie!

  2. With no hint of sarcasm (and I mean that), I love how you write the way you speak. I quote, "Claire and I seriously found the best gelato place...."
    Besos! (Whatever that means).
